Our Story
Miarahaba, I’m Fy.
I grew up in Madagascar surrounded by nature, where gardening was not just a hobby, but a passion. Although I later studied computer science and worked as a software developer, my heart always remained rooted in the soil.
In 2021, with the support of my sister, I co-founded a garden business back home. What started as a simple project became one of Madagascar’s leading horticulture ventures.
A new beginning
In 2024, my family and I moved to Canada in search of new opportunities and a better future. We found more than that, we found a sense of belonging. But something was missing.
I searched for rare tropical plants, the kind that bring life, calm, and connection. I visited many stores and searched online, but couldn’t find what I was looking for locally.
That’s when Shootsia was born.
Why Shootsia?
Shootsia was born during a difficult time.
There was a period where I felt overwhelmed, disconnected, and struggling with anxiety and low moments. During that time, plants became more than just something beautiful. They became a quiet support.
Caring for them brought structure, calm, and a sense of presence. Watching new growth, even the smallest leaf, reminded me that things take time, and that growth is still happening, even when we don’t always see it.
That experience stayed with me.
Shootsia exists to share that feeling with others. Not just through plants, but through the space they create. A softer atmosphere. A moment to breathe. A simple way to reconnect with something living.
Because sometimes, taking care of something else helps us take care of ourselves.
Built on connection
Here in Ottawa, I met Vatosoa, a fellow plant lover who shared the same passion and appreciation for what plants bring into our lives. What started as a simple connection grew into a strong friendship, built on shared values, trust, and a genuine love for plants.
Together, we shaped Shootsia with intention.
Not just as a place to find plants, but as something more meaningful. A space where people can feel inspired, take their time, and build their own connection with nature in a way that feels personal.
Because behind every plant, there is care.
And behind Shootsia, there are people who truly understand what that care means.
